It’s hard not to reblog Camille. I thought about it because I’ve reblogged this gif a few times already. But I couldn’t scroll past it.

A Dirty Job
betweenthewoodsandthewater:

A couple of people have asked me about this picture so I though I’d add a bit of detail.
The wooden vessel in the picture is called a quaich, it is a traditional British/Scottish drinking cup which has been recreated from close study of examples in museums. The ones in the foreground have a sterling silver rim fitted.
The quaich are communal drinking cups, usually for whisky or similar which is passed around, everyone sipping from the same cup. They are liked as wedding gifts and for special occasions.
The picture and the work are by Robin Wood, a traditional bowl turner working in Derbyshire, England. Robin has a great website on his work and his campaigning for the preservation of heritage crafts. You can take a look at Robins website here and an article on his blog relating to the quaichs.
